This week GQ magazine contacted the London Voice and Swallowing Clinic to find out about our new minimally invasive alternative to voice deepening surgery. The new technique involves injecting small amounts of testosterone very precisely into the vocal cords and can be done in about 15 minutes under local anaesthetic.
While the technique is established in helping trans men achieve a deeper voice, treating cis men using this technique is a newer method. Pioneered in the USA, Mr Chadwan Al Yaghchi is the first to offer it in the UK and demand is growing amongst cis men. Dr Chadwan has completed 10 procedures on cis men so far, who have achieved “a consistent drop in pitch of between 15–30 Hz.”
