Mr Chadwan Al Yaghchi is now offering vocal cord injections for male voice deepening at the London Voice and Swallowing Clinic. The minimally invasive procedure has proven to be successful in helping trans men to achieve a significant drop in voice pitch, is now shown to help cis men as well.
The procedure, where testosterone is injected into the vocal cords, can be done in the consulting room with local anaesthetic. It involves visualisation of the vocal cords using an endoscope (small camera on a flexible tube passed down the back of the nose) and a small amount of testosterone injected into the target area on each side of the voice box.
The first male patients have been treated and have achieved significant drop in pitch. Patients will receive a course of 4 injections spaced 2 weeks apart.
